The Food Adventure Continues

I started this blog when we started changing the way we eat. Finding out we
needed to be gluten free, actually for me wheat free, was a huge big deal.

A Wise Friend...
...once stated that if we do not celebrate a little life with others, then we have no one to mourn that little life with. With a few fear generated tears and many many excited smiles we celebrate the little life that is John's baby brother or sister. It is our hope to hold, cuddle and baptize our baby in October. We just found out today that I am pregnant and we are going in the morning to see the doctor in our area that specializes in helping women with PCOS carry to term. We will be saying many prayers for this man, for our wee babe, and as always for the awesome big brother of the family, who when we told him that we hoped that we would get to hold and play with the baby before his birthday he celebrated by showing us what playing meant, um, we may be revising what it means to play with a baby between now and then.

Getting Better!
Recovery from surgery is never fun. But even while recovering John could find a smile, and he's never missed the opportunity to fix a thing!
He's now made it well over 24 hours without pain medication and as you can see is getting back to his same old silly self.
Including, if you will notice, driving a little while standing up. I'm not sure that I am ready for this, but obviously John is.
Here is John is modeling for a me the gigantic size 15 sock that I am making for our nephew Wyatt, our big Marine. I'm pretty sure the sock is going to need a thorough rework, as sock sizing is not the easiest thing to do long distance, but in the end hope to be able to keep Wyatt supplied with handmade socks for all his adventures!

Family, Memories and Upcoming stuff too
This past week we went down to celebrate Mark's brothers birthday with him and his family. We are so happy that they are only about 5 hours away and that we can go visit more often.
On the way down we pass through Neosho, Missouri which is where my dad and I went to waste water tech school, where I lived when he died and where the only physical memorial to him sits. There has been lots of construction at the school and I was afraid it was gone but one last pass and we found it.
Because my dad is unburied this is the closest thing that we have to a grave site to visit, and so while it was hard in one way it brought back many good memories of the time that we lived there and it was great to get a picture of my two favorite guys with my dad whom they never got to meet.
Our mini vacation was awesome. Good company, good food (finally found guacamole that is good) and good booze and more good memories made!
John is going in to have his ureters re-implanted at St. Louis Children's on the 10th of February, he and I will have to be in town on Monday for testing and will stay to surgery and through recovery. Dad will join us for surgery and as much of recovery as he can. They are saying that he might be released the same day as surgery or maybe will need 2 or 3 days in the hospital to recover. I'm not holding my breath as the last time that we heard these things he was in the hospital for a month, but I'm hoping!
